TEN GREAT HOUSEKEEPING HACKS FOR NATURALLY CLEANING YOUR HOME

Numerous cleaning products, detergents, and other household supplies do their function, and yet, they do more damage than they help. We all know that using household chemicals is inevitable, but still, we can at least try to reduce their use.

BATHROOM TILES

Ingredients needed:

  • Half a glass of water
  • ¼ glass of hydrogen peroxide
  • A tablespoon of liquid soap

How to use it:
Combine all ingredients and make a homogenous mixture from them.

In order to clean the visible dirt put some liquid on a sponge and wipe the tiles with it. In the end, wash the surface with water.

In case that the tiles are very dirty, put some liquid directly on them and on grout too. Let the liquid stay on for about ten minutes and dissolve the dirt, which will make it easier for you to clean it later. Do all of this once again if needed and finish by washing the surface using some water.

You probably want to keep your bathroom clean as long as possible, so use the following technique: make a solution using water and vinegar in 1:1 ratio, and spray the tiles with this liquid two times a week.

 A GAS STOVE

Ingredients needed:

  • Ammonia-anisic drops
  • Q-tips
  • An old tooth brush

How to use it:
Soak a q-tip into ammonia-anisic drops and then rub the greasy spots with the q-tip. For cleaning ingrained grease, take a tooth brush and a usual sponge. Before you start cleaning put on gloves so that you protect your hands and your skin.

KITCHEN EXHAUST HOOD FILTERS

Ingredients needed:

  • Half a glass of ammonia
  • Half a cup of baking soda

How to use it:
Take a big pot, fill it with water, and boil the water.

Gradually add the baking soda to the water using a teaspoon.

Place filters into the boiling water. It will cause the grease and dirt dissolve right away. Then, in a few minutes, remove the pot from heat. In case the filters are too dirty, repeat everything once again with a fresh supply of water.

In case that the grease still does not come off completely, put the filters in hot water with ammonia (use half a glass of ammonia for 118 fl oz (3.5l) of water). Open the windows while you do this and put on a filter mask so that you do not inhale the strong smell of ammonia.

A MATTRESS

Ingredients needed:

  • A drop of liquid soap
  • 8 fl oz (or 235 ml) of 3-percent hydrogen peroxide
  • Three tablespoons of baking soda

How to use it:
Make sure that you prepare the mixture immediately before you clean the mattress as it is more effective this way.

Put the baking soda and the peroxide in a spray bottle, and once the baking soda is dissolved, drip the liquid soap in it. Spray this liquid on the dirty spots, having the bottle previously shaken.

Let the liquid work for about five to ten minutes. If you do not want to wait, use a fan, pointing it to the spot.

The leftovers of baking soda are best removed with a vacuum cleaner.

THE OVEN

Ingredients needed:

  • Ammonia

How to use it:
Take some ammonia, put it in a small bowl, and leave the bowl in a turned off oven for a night. The following morning, air your kitchen well and wash the oven: the grease will peel off easily. The smell will disappear. As efficient as this method is, it still has one disadvantage, and it is the smell. This is why you should work with gloves on and you should leave the windows open.

THE KETTLE

Ingredients needed:

  • Vinegar

How to use it:
When it comes to removing the kettle furring, you should know this trick: fill the kettle up to half or three quarters level using water and vinegar in equal amounts. Cork the nose of the kettle (making a ‘cork’ out of paper, for instance) and boil the water in it for as long as you need, or until the furring comes off. In the end, wash the kettle well.

DISHES

Ingredients needed:

  • Baking soda
  • Dry mustard

How to use it:
The safest and most efficient dish-washing mixture consists of baking soda and dry mustard in the 1:3 ratios. Combine these two powders and place the mixture into a bottle with holes in the lid. The use of it is very simple.

THE TOILET

Ingredients needed:

  • Vinegar

How to use it:
Pure vinegar is excellent for cleaning the toilet, thanks to both its cleaning and its disinfecting properties.

A MICROFIBER SOFA COVER

Ingredients needed:

  • Baking soda
  • A bottle of isopropyl alcohol
  • A brush
  • A sponge

How to use it:
Take some isopropyl alcohol and pour it on a sponge. Rub the dirty places with the sponge. The microfibers are best taken care of with a brush. The funky smell can be easily eliminated with some baking soda.

THE REFRIGERATOR

Ingredients needed:

  • Baking soda

How to use it:
Mix two tablespoons of baking soda with 34 fl oz (1l) of water and use this solution for scrubbing the inside of the fridge. In the end, wipe the fridge with a soft cloth.

If you want to get rid of the unpleasant smell, you do not need to buy special absorbents. You should simply place some products from your kitchen in the fridge, and they will do an amazing job. Here is which products you can use:

  • Lemon slices
  • Pieces of dark bread
  • Absorbent coal
  • Glasses of baking soda
