The Basa fish ( Pangasius Fillets) is being sold in the form of frozen fillets in Europe at a very cheap price, and that is the reason it’s so popular. However, this Vietnamese fish is very low in quality and it can endanger your health!
This fish is cultivated near the Mekong River in Vietnam, which is one of the most polluted rivers in the world. The fish is cultivated in dirt pools that contain high levels of bacteria and toxins that end up in the meat. Besides this, this meat has been found to contain chlorate, heavy metals, isomers, hexachlorobenzene and some other harmful compounds. The United States have banned the import of the Basa fish as a result of the high levels of contaminants in the meat and also because of the suspicion that it contains antibiotics.
The Basa fish is very unhealthy and is fed with waste material that can harm your general health. In nature, the fish grows four times faster, but this type of fish that is sold in the markets is injected with antibiotics and hormones which are supposed to make the fish much bigger. The meat was found to contain numerous hormones that accelerate the growth and the reproduction of the fish, and is then sold in partnership with the big companies that have no regard for the human health. The Basa fish is sold at a very low price and that is what attracts the supermarkets and their customers to buy them, not being aware of the very low quality of the meat.
The fish is nutritionally poor and doesn’t contain omega-3 oils or any other essential nutrients which can be found in natural fish. It may have decent taste, but the Basa fish is very dangerous for the health, and that is the reason why you should avoid it.
