Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases that affect a large number of people worldwide. There is still no permanent cure for cancer, and it can strike any person irrespective of any age, class and creed. However, according to a research by Dr.Carolyn Anderson, East Indians have a considerably lower rate of cancer. During her research she found certain facts that substantiate her study. The ratios are as follows.
-The East Indians have 1/5 as many breast cancers as North Americans at the same age!
-The East Indians have 1/8 as many lung cancers as North Americans at the same age!
-The East Indians have 1/9 as many colon cancers as North Americans at the same age!
-The East Indians have 1/50 our rate at prostate cancer!
Dr. Anderson apparently considers that one ingredient that is widely consumed by east Indians is responsible for this.
Turmeric is a powdered spice that is used in majority of cooking recipes. Turmeric is known to have potent anti-inflammatory properties, more than any other food product. Turmeric contains curcuminwhich restrains the development of many cancers like breast, colon, ovarian, prostate and brain cancer. It also lowers the development rate of the new blood vessels that feed the tumor.

Turmeric is not a new spice. It has been used in India, China and Middle East for more than 2 millenniums. In fact turmeric is widely used in India to treat wounds and also for skin health.
Bharat Aggarwal, a professor from Houston, Texas was the first scientist to throw light on how curcumin is helpful against cancer. This ingredient had extraordinary effects on mice which were inserted with advanced stages of breast cancer tumors. The tumors had stopped reacting to chemotherapy but a regular dietary dose of this ingredient, lowered the increase of metastates in the mice.
3.Increase anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric.
Certain foods when combined are more beneficial. Turmeric by itself or in capsule form does not get absorbed by the intestine in adequate quantities for it to work. However when it is added to pepper or ginger as in yellow curry it will pass the intestinal obstruction. Body absorbs 2000% more turmeric when it is mixed with pepper. It can also be dissolved in olive oil and consumed.
- ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder
- Half a teaspoon of olive oil
- Pinch of black pepper
All the ingredients are to be mixed together. The mixture can then be added in soups, vegetables, cooked meats or even salad dressings.
