Most Bottled Water is Filled With Fluoride, Here’s A Complete List of Brands to Avoid

Fluoride has become a very popular topic in the last few years. After the people became aware of the fact that the government puts it in our public water supplies, lots of them wanted to know more about the full effect that this water has on our health. Some people praised it for its ability to protect our teeth from decay, while the others pointed out that too much of it can actually damage our teeth and could have an adverse effect on our nervous system.

Regardless of your opinion about fluoride, sometimes it seems just impossible to do something as simple as taking a sip of water without being exposed to it. This is the reason why we are going to show you a list of all of the bottled water brands that contain zero traces of fluoride, and the list of brands containing the most amount of fluoride. On that way you’ll know which ones to buy when you want a fluoride-free beverage.

First, let’s take a look at some of the health risks associated with fluoride exposure.

One of the most common (and slightly ironic) side effects of fluoride exposure is fluorosis, which is permanent teeth deformation. It’s usually caused in children during the first 8 years of their life, when their permanent teeth are starting to form. Overexposure to fluoride during this period can cause fluorosis.

The physical deformities that are caused by fluorosis include staining, ranging from yellow to dark brown, and irregularities in the surface of the teeth and large, noticeable pits that could form holes in the teeth.

Another side effect of fluoride exposure is the negative impact on cognitive development in children. A study conducted in China found that kids who grew up in areas with high levels of fluoride in their drinking water, on average, scored considerably less on IQ tests compared to children in lower-fluoride areas.

According to the senior study author Philippe Grandjean, this is a result of the toxic affect that fluoride has on the developing brain.

“Fluoride seems to fit in with mercury, lead, and other poisons that cause chemical brain drain,” says Grandjean. “The effect of each toxicant might seem small, but the combined damage on a population scale can be very serious, especially because the brain power of the next generation is crucial to everyone of us.”
