Forest Essentials Nargis Bath and Shower Oil Review

Hello gorgeous ladies,

Today’s review is on a bath product, my first purchase from Forest Essentials. This is a Bath and Shower Oil in the fragrance “Nargis.” Let’s see how this shower oil performed.

Product Description:
This Moisture Replenishing Bath and Shower Water soluble oil, include pure, naturally distilled essential oils, in organically grown cold-pressed base oils, derived from a variety of plants, fruits and nuts to leave your skin supple, silky smooth and beautifully hydrated. Each sensual blend not only treats the skin in a specific way but also leaves it lightly fragranced.  A light fresh blend to moisturize and condition the skin. The fragrance is fresh Nargis flower scented, leaving the skin supple and fragrant.

How To Use:
Use on wet skin in the shower after cleansing to seal moisture on the body, or pour two capfuls into warm bath water.

Price:
I picked it up a couple of months back at INR 1575. The current price is INR 1775.  INR 200 price hike in a couple of months seems steep to me.

Packaging;
It’s a standard FE oil bottle, plastic with a screw on cap. The spout gives a bit of control on the amount of product being dispensed out. However, I feel something like oil in a bottle, really needs to come with a stopper or a pump. The bottle comes packaging in a brown cardboard box.

My Experience with Forest Essentials Nargis Bath and Shower Oil:
The product is a lightweight bath and shower oil as opposed to a massage oil or a post-shower oil. Meaning, the oil is is water soluble and spreads better on moist skin and can be applied directly on the wet skin! Yeah, that’s how this is different from the rest of the oils like coconut oil, olive oil or even my favourite Palmer’s Cocoa Oil.

A brief on my skin type – I have EXTREMELY dry skin!! It’s like parched skin, except for my face, which is combination to oily, and one problem I have is paucity of time. Yes, you will say, who in today’s world doesn’t? But in my case, taking a bath has to be done on record speed, with at least two interruptions, my elder one will definitely, urgently, need something while I’m taking a shower. And my younger one will definitely come crying to me because the elder one beat him up – again! In this condition, taking care of my skin becomes a challenge.

When I first got this product, I tried applying it on my body – it’s fairly lightweight, so it got absorbed quickly. Honestly, it got absorbed even before I could spread it properly! Which made me question how long the bottle would last – like a week? and it made me have a re-look at the bottle box. The directions written on the box mention it to apply on wet skin (or to put 2 capfuls in a bucket), which kind of perplexed me since I had not encountered such a product before.  So, I tried it again – this time, post my shower, on my wet body. So, the oil and water kind of combined together since this oil is water soluble. Since my body was actually wet, the product did not get absorbed instantly. It kind of formed a film on my body and I waited for it to dry up.

In the interim, I applied my face serum and moisturizer. My body was still wet. I got a little confused but thought of re-massaging the film of product on my body. Net result, the product got absorbed nicely, leaving my body hydrated, soft and fragrant. So, basically, the product had a bit of a learning curve in terms of how to use it or maybe I was being plain “duh” because I had not encountered such a product before. Once you get the hang of it, it’s quite enjoyable actually.

The fragrance of this oil is of “Nargis” – also known as “Poet’s Daffodil.” It smells absolutely heavenly, but not in an overpowering way.  It’s quite calming to me. The smell does not linger onto the skin for too long, for just about an hour or so. However, the suppleness and hydration stays on.

All in all, it’s a lovely product to try and to pamper yourself with. It can work the whole year round. My body does not get dry even after 10 hours of applying this, trust me, when I say this because normally, my body gets so dry that I can actually write on it!

However, the hydration provided by this is light. It will not work any miracles if you have really dry knees and elbows, it does nothing for them!

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Forest Essentials Nargis Bath and Shower Oil:

  • Lovely fragrance – yes, it is subjective.
  • Luxurious feel.
  • Leaves body feeling soft, supple, nourished.
  • Lightweight, gets absorbed fairly quickly.
  • Can be used in the bath or shower.
  • Can be used all year round.
  • The oil being water soluble – helps retain the moisture in.
  • Does not stain clothes.
  • Stays liquid, through the year.

Cons of Forest Essentials Nargis Bath and Shower Oil:

  • Wish the packaging was more travel friendly.

IMBB Rating:

A definite 4.5/5 product.

I think it’s a fantastic product to pamper yourself with; however, not a must buy. Also, like I always say, price is subjective to the person purchasing it. For me, I feel the price to be a tad expensive to use it on a daily basis.
